Hybrid heating – What are the advantages of a hybrid infrared heating system?

Question

What are the advantages of a hybrid infrared heating system?

Answer

A hybrid infrared heating system combines two heating technologies: infrared radiation and convection heat. This means that both people and objects are heated directly, whilst the air in the room is also warmed.

The key advantages at a glance:

• Comfortable warmth: Infrared radiation provides direct, soothing warmth, whilst convection heat additionally warms the air in the room.
• Even heat distribution: The combination of both heating methods ensures that the heat is distributed more evenly throughout the room.
• High level of thermal comfort: Even areas outside the direct radiation zone are heated by the warmed air in the room.
• Flexible applications: Hybrid infrared heaters are suitable both as supplementary heating and, if correctly sized, as the main heating system.
In rooms with moderate to poor insulation, a great deal of heat is lost through walls and windows. Hybrid infrared heaters combine direct radiant heat with convection heat. The radiant heat ensures a pleasant feeling of warmth despite cool surfaces, whilst the convection heat additionally warms the air in the room. This improves thermal comfort even where heat loss is significant.
• Simple installation: As a rule, a suitable mains connection is all that is required. No complex heating pipework is needed.
• Low maintenance: As most hybrid infrared heaters have no moving parts, they require virtually no maintenance.

Conclusion:

Hybrid infrared heaters combine the pleasant direct heat of an infrared heater with the room-warming effect of a convection heater. This makes them a versatile heating solution for a variety of living and working spaces.
